Condors Advance to CCCAA Regional Round II
Oxnard defeats COD 3-2 to move on
The Condors are soaring to the next round of the CCCAA playoffs with a 3-2 win over College of the Desert.
The champions of the WSC and IEAC squared off on Saturday afternoon, in a tough Round 1 matchup.
OC got on the board early with a cross to Kenneth Ayala, who mis-directed the ball into the back of the net. COD leveled the score 15 minutes later from a set-piece in front of the Condor goal. Faris Ceranic looked to have put it in past Efrain Perez.
The Condors answered 10 minutes later, on an Angel Herrera free-kick, just outside of the box. Herrera curled the ball past three Roadrunner defenders, just past the GK. Just 10 minutes later, COD's Ramon Felix scored to tie the game, 2-2.
Oxnard continued to pressure COD's defense, and finally Ayala broke through with the game winner, early in the second half. Oxnard's defense proved to be too much for COD, and the Condors came away with the 3-2 winner.
OC advances to play at Cerritos College on Tuesday, November 23rd at 2:00 pm.
