Condors Win Third Straight, Take 4-2 Road Victory at Rio Hondo

The Condors struck first in the second inning and never trailed, using timely hitting, strong relief pitching, and a clutch late home run to secure the win. With the victory, Oxnard continued its recent surge and picked up another important result on the road.
Oxnard got on the board in the top of the second when Jonas Ballesteros lifted a sacrifice fly to center field, bringing home Jacob Stringer for a 1-0 lead. Later in the inning, Brayden Ferguson delivered an RBI double to score Josh Nichter and give the Condors a 2-0 advantage.
Rio Hondo answered in the fourth inning, taking advantage of an Oxnard error to score two runs and tie the game at 2-2. But the Condors responded in the late innings.
Ferguson provided the biggest swing of the day in the seventh, blasting a solo home run to put Oxnard back in front, 3-2. An inning later, Stringer came through again with an RBI double that scored Isaiah Justo and added an insurance run.
Ferguson had a standout performance at the plate, finishing 2-for-3 with a double, home run, two RBIs, and a walk. Stringer also turned in a strong day, going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Justo, Nichter, and Kekai Adams each added a hit as Oxnard totaled seven hits in the game.
On the mound, Ricky Garcia gave the Condors a solid start, working five innings and allowing two runs on three hits while striking out three. Chasten Rice earned the win in relief after tossing three scoreless innings and allowing just one hit. AB Crist-Bryd closed the door in the ninth to record his first save of the season.
Defensively, Oxnard turned a key double play and limited Rio Hondo to just four hits. Despite issuing seven walks, the Condors worked out of trouble throughout the afternoon and held the Roadrunners scoreless over the final five innings.
Oxnard finished with four runs on seven hits, while Rio Hondo scored two runs on four hits.
The Condors will look to keep the streak alive in their next conference matchup.
