Condors and Raiders Battle to 2–2 Draw in Cross-County Rivalry Match
OXNARD, Calif. – In another chapter of the Ventura County rivalry, the Oxnard College men’s soccer team played to a 2–2 draw against visiting Moorpark College on Tuesday afternoon in the Condors Nest. The tie brings Oxnard’s record to 9-2-2 overall (4-0-1 WSC), while Moorpark moves to 6-5-5 overall (2-2-2 WSC).
OXNARD, Calif. – In another chapter of the fierce Ventura County rivalry, the Oxnard College men's soccer team played to a 2–2 draw against visiting Moorpark College on Tuesday afternoon at Condor Stadium. The tie brings Oxnard's record to 9-2-2 overall (4-0-1 WSC), while Moorpark moves to 6-5-5 overall (2-2-2 WSC).
Condor defender Emmanuel Yarjah delivered a strong performance, scoring both Oxnard goals in the first half. Yarjah opened the scoring in the 12th minute with a PK before adding a second goal at the 31-minute mark, giving the Condors a 2–1 lead heading into halftime.
Despite playing a man down after Moorpark's Ricky Esparza was sent off with a red card early in the match, the Raiders fought back. Troy Mishkanian equalized in the 21st minute, and Uzi Diaz later leveled the score again in the 81st minute to secure the draw.
The Condors dominated statistically, outshooting Moorpark 12–6 and holding a 2–1 advantage in first-half goals, but could not find the winner despite several late opportunities.
The rivalry matchup was physical throughout, with six yellow cards and one red card issued during the contest. The result keeps Oxnard unbeaten in Western State Conference play and sets the stage for a competitive finish to the regular season.
OC will travel to Santa Barbara CC on Friday for another critical WSC match that kicks off at 1:30 pm.
