Late Rally Lifts Condors Past Hancock, 6-5, in Dramatic WSC Battle
OXNARD, Calif. — The Oxnard College softball team delivered its biggest comeback of the conference season on Thursday, rallying in the bottom of the eighth inning to defeat WSC rival Allan Hancock, 6-5, in dramatic fashion at home.

Trailing 5-4 entering their final at-bat, the Condors refused to back down. Oxnard strung together the key hits it needed in the eighth, scoring twice to walk off with a thrilling win over one of its conference rivals.
Allan Hancock struck first in the opening inning, but Oxnard answered immediately with a three-run first to seize early momentum. Jiselle Garcia tied the game with an RBI single, and the Condors took advantage of Hancock miscues to grab a 3-1 lead.
The Bulldogs battled back to even the score in the third, then moved in front 4-3 in the fifth. Oxnard answered once again in the bottom half of the inning when Alexah Espinoza delivered an RBI single to bring home Amber Cervantez and tie the game at 4-4.
Hancock regained the lead in the top of the eighth, but the Condors had one more response in them.
In the bottom of the eighth, Isabela Nava came around to score the tying run on an RBI single by Cervantez. Moments later, Garcia came through again with the game-winning hit, driving in Marylou Flores to complete the 6-5 comeback victory.
Garcia led the Oxnard offense with a huge 3-for-5 performance and three RBIs, including the walk-off winner. Cervantez was outstanding both in the circle and at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two runs scored and the game-tying RBI in the eighth. Nava added two hits and scored twice, while Flores collected two hits and scored the winning run.
The Condors finished with 11 hits on the afternoon, showing resilience throughout despite trailing late. Espinoza added an RBI, and Oxnard consistently pressured Hancock with timely contact and aggressive baserunning.
In the circle, Cervantez went all eight innings for Oxnard, allowing six hits and five runs, though only one was earned, while striking out nine. Her steady presence kept the Condors within striking distance until the offense delivered in the extra frame.
The victory was a statement win for Oxnard in WSC play, as the Condors showed grit, composure, and the ability to answer every challenge against a tough conference opponent.
With the win, Oxnard adds another memorable chapter to its season and builds momentum heading deeper into conference competition.
